Family Cracidae – Guans, Curassows & Chachalacas

These are large birds similar in general appearance to turkeys. The guans and curassows live in trees, but the smaller chachalacas are found in more scrubby habitats. This group are species of tropical and sub-tropical Central and South America.There are 11 genera with 51 species.
